NEWS & EVENTS
It's been a busy year thus far for marketing and promotions. In addition to two local author showcases, in Windsor at the Clearview Library District, and in Fort Collins at the Old Town Library in the Poudre River Library District, I've also participated in several book club meetings where "Seeking Blue" was discussed in earnest!
On Sunday, September 6, I was a guest on KRFC 88.9 FM's "Between the Pages" radio show with Rich Keller. Along with local writers Chris Nugent and JC Lynne, I discussed parenting and writing and read a portion of Seeking Blue on the air. Very exciting! We recorded a podcast for the Northern Colorado Writer's Podcast that will air later in September. Stay tuned...

Book Club Participation
On Monday, October 20, 2014, I participated in my first book club meeting since I officially published Seeking Blue on May 30 of this year. Bonnie and her friends and bookclub-mates taught me how to make sushi (I am already skilled at eating the stuff, thank you very much) and they gave me their feedback about Seeking Blue. Overall, great reviews, and even better company. Thanks to Bonnie, Cynde, Ruth, Sharon, Joyce, Ann, and Mary for offering to read Seeking Blue, and to welcome me into their discussion. It got my excited to work on #2!
I gave two successful talks about my writing career and writing in general at Rigden Farms (October 6, 2014) and The Worthington, (October 8, 2014), both independent senior living facilities in Fort Collins. They were well -attended and I very much enjoyed engaging with the active senior population. It was gratifying to combine two of my passions—interacting with the "experienced" portion of the population, and writing—and share my story of going from nobody to successful freelance writer and novelist. I gave away 2 free copies of Seeking Blue at each meeting, then decided to give away one more to a 100-year-old woman at the Worthington. Yes, she earned it simply by virtue of the fact that she hit the century mark, walked without a cane, and looked not a day older than 85. Good for her.
Thanks to Cheyenne and Tami, the activities coordinators for the respective facilities for helping arrange the talks and for giving me the opportunity to spend time with an interactive and pleasant audience.

Old Firehouse Books, Old Town Fort Collins
My September 27 book signing at Old Firehouse Books was, to quote Kelsey, the events coordinator at Firehouse, "the most successful local author book signing we've had this year." I sold and signed a grand total of 7 books that day, which didn't seem like much until I got Kelsey's follow-up encouraging email, in which she also asked me to swing by three more copies of Seeking Blue. Onward!
Star Island Success!!
Seeking Blue was available this summer at the Star Island Book Shop on Star Island, in the Isles of Shoals, New Hampshire. In 5 days, all 15 copies sold out. I managed to scrounge up 3 more, which also flew off the shelves quickly.
I'd like to send a heartfelt thank-you to Christina Warren, manager of the book store, for having confidence in a new literary voice, and to all who purchased a copy and gave me feedback. And of course, another fantastic week spent at beautiful, idyllic, Star lsland. We will come back!!!
My Seeking Blue book launch party at Astoria Bar in Old Town Fort Collins on June 11, 2014, was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who turned out to support me in this huge accomplishment. I sold 37 copies that night, and have since sold every one of the 100 books I ordered for my initial Seeking Blue promotion.
